Nepal's EV charging network has more than doubled in the last 12 months, with new public stations opening in Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan, and along the East-West Highway corridor.
The expansion is partly policy-driven — the government's reduced import duties on EVs have led to a sharp uptick in EV purchases — and partly commercial, with hotels, malls, and parking lots installing chargers as a customer amenity.
Mega Solar's EV charging division has installed Type 2 wall-boxes for over 200 residential customers and three commercial fast-charging hubs since 2023.
What's needed next: standardised charging speeds across providers, transparent pricing apps, and grid-side investment to handle peak charging loads in dense urban areas.
