How to choose a hob or oven for a Nepali kitchen

Begin with fuel. Most homes in Nepal cook on LPG, so a gas hob is the practical choice. A hybrid hob, such as the Ferre B631 I-WB with three gas burners and a 1500W electric hot plate, gives you a backup cooking zone when the cylinder runs out mid-meal.

Next is width and burner count. A 60 cm hob fits smaller counters and two to four people. A 70 cm hob with five burners gives space for a pressure cooker, a large kadhai on the wok burner and a dal pot at the same time. If you also want an oven and have no built-in cabinet, a free-standing cooker in 55, 60 or 90 cm width combines both.

  • Wok burner: a triple ring wok burner gives the high heat needed for tadka, stir-fry and large kadhai cooking
  • Safety: choose flame failure devices, which cut the gas if the flame blows out; all our gas models have them
  • Ignition: one-hand auto ignition means no lighter or matchbox near the gas
  • Pan supports: cast iron supports hold heavy pressure cookers and kadhai steadily
  • Cutout: built-in hobs need a counter cutout matching the model, so confirm dimensions with us before the granite or counter is cut
  • LPG hookup: use a proper regulator and hose, keep the cylinder ventilated and accessible, and keep hoses away from oven heat

Ferre models compared

Built-in gas hobs: three 70 cm five-burner hobs. The Ferre NT135 has a black tempered glass top with a side-mounted triple ring wok burner and cast iron pan supports. The Ferre KA014 has a black glass top with a stainless steel base and a central triple ring wok. The Ferre EL004 is a stainless steel hob with a central triple ring wok and matte steel pan supports. All three run on LPG or natural gas with one-hand auto ignition.

Built-in ovens: the Ferre QXB Prime is a 56-litre built-in electric oven for a standard 60 cm cabinet, with 10 functions, a turbo fan, rotisserie, digital timer and double-layer glass door. For a smaller budget or no cabinet space, the Ferre MF42-S is a 42-litre midi oven with upper and lower elements, grill, a 90-minute mechanical timer and a yogurt function for homemade dahi.

Free-standing cookers: Ferre's gas and electric cookers come in 55 x 50 cm (three SABAF burners, 42-litre oven), 60 x 60 cm (four burners, 65-litre oven with turbo fan) and 90 x 60 cm (four SABAF burners including a 4.6 kW triple wok, 114-litre oven with turbo fans and rotisserie). Each includes a 1500W electric hot plate.

What drives the price difference

The lowest price in this category is the Ferre MF42-S countertop midi oven, which needs no cabinet or gas connection. Built-in hobs come next, with price varying by top material (tempered glass vs stainless steel), wok burner position and pan support type.

Built-in electric ovens cost more because of their cooking functions, fan, digital controls and insulated glass door. Free-standing cookers are the most expensive because they combine a full hob and an oven in one unit; the 90 x 60 cm Ferre with a 114-litre oven, 4.6 kW triple wok, turbo fans and rotisserie sits at the top of our range.

Frequently asked questions

What is the built-in hob price in Nepal?+

Our Ferre built-in gas hobs, including 60 cm hybrid and 70 cm five-burner models, sit in the lower-middle part of a range that runs from Rs. 16,875 to Rs. 2,03,400 across ovens, hobs and cookers. Price depends on glass or steel top, wok burner design and pan supports. Check each product page for the current price.

What is the built-in oven price in Nepal?+

The Ferre QXB Prime 56-litre built-in electric oven is our main built-in model and is priced well below our free-standing cookers. If you do not have a built-in cabinet, the Ferre MF42-S 42-litre midi oven is the most affordable option in this category.

Should I choose a 60 cm or 70 cm hob?+

A 60 cm hob suits compact counters and smaller households. A 70 cm five-burner hob lets you run a pressure cooker, a kadhai on the wok burner and two more pots together, which suits Nepali cooking for larger families. Check your counter space and cutout before deciding.

Do these hobs work with an LPG cylinder?+

Yes. The Ferre NT135, KA014, EL004 and B631 I-WB built-in hobs are listed for LPG or natural gas, and the free-standing cookers also run on gas. Use a proper regulator and hose and keep the cylinder in a ventilated place. We can connect and leak-test the line during installation.

Are these hobs safe for home use?+

All our Ferre gas hobs and cookers have flame failure devices, which shut off gas to a burner if the flame goes out, for example when milk boils over. The built-in hobs also use one-hand auto ignition, so you do not need a lighter near the gas.

What warranty do Ferre hobs and ovens have?+

Ferre hobs, built-in ovens and free-standing cookers in our catalog list a 1 year warranty, and the MF42-S midi oven lists 1 year where applicable. Keep your purchase invoice and contact Mega Solar Energy for service.

Do you deliver hobs and ovens outside Kathmandu?+

Yes. We deliver ovens, hobs and cookers across Nepal and can arrange installation, including the gas connection and countertop cutout. Contact us with your location and the model you want for delivery time and installation cost.
