How to Choose a Chimney for a Nepali Kitchen

Nepali cooking is hard on a chimney. Daily tadka, deep-fried snacks, pressure-cooker steam and mustard oil smoke produce far more grease than light cooking, so match the hood to how you actually cook.

• Width vs stove: pick a chimney at least as wide as your gas stove. A 60 cm hood suits a two-burner stove; 75 cm or 90 cm suits three- and four-burner stoves.
• Suction (m³/h): our models range from up to 900 m³/h to 1200 m³/h. Small kitchens with light cooking manage with around 1000 m³/h; larger or open kitchens with heavy frying benefit from 1100–1200 m³/h.
• Filter type: baffle and cone filters are stainless steel and washable, so there are no paid replacements. Filterless designs exist, but every model we stock uses a washable metal filter, which handles oily cooking well.

Decide which of these you will actually use, and spend on suction and a good motor first.

Plan the duct route before buying: a short, straight pipe with few bends keeps suction strong, while long runs and sharp turns reduce it.
