How to Choose an RFID Hotel Lock for Your Property

Moving from metal keys to key cards is mostly about matching the lock to your doors and planning the system once for the whole building. Check these points before you order:

  • Card type: all our locks, the card switch and the key cards use Mifare RFID. Keeping one card standard means a single card handles the door and the room power.
  • Door thickness: the Black and Golden RFID locks need doors of 38 mm or more, while the Silver and Be-Tech models fit doors from 34 mm, which helps in older buildings with thinner doors.
  • Mortise: every lock uses an Electric 5050 mortise, so the door edge is cut to take the mortise body. Solid wooden doors are the easiest to fit.
  • Power and backup: locks run on 4x AAA batteries and come with 2 mechanical keys, so staff can still open a room if batteries run flat.
  • Encoder: you need one Card Encoder & Software set per property, not per room. It issues and cancels guest cards at reception and can also program elevator access cards.
  • Cards: order enough rewritable key cards for every room plus spares for lost cards and multiple guests.

Hotel Key Card Lock Models Compared

Our four RFID hotel door locks share the same core features: Mifare card and mechanical key access, Electric 5050 mortise and battery power. The differences are finish, brand and door fit.

  • RFID Hotel Door Lock (Golden): gold finish, 38 mm+ doors, an affordable way to switch rooms to key cards.
  • RFID Hotel Door Lock (Silver): brushed silver, fits doors from 34 mm.
  • RFID Hotel Door Lock (Black): matte black finish for a modern look, 38 mm+ doors.
  • Be-Tech RFID Hotel Door Lock (Silver): branded Be-Tech hospitality lock for properties that want a recognised name on the door, 34 mm+ doors.
  • Mifare RFID Hotel Key Card (White): plain white, rewritable, priced per card and compatible with our locks, card switch and encoder.

Energy Saving Card Switch, Hotel Safe Box and Smart Doorplate

The Hotel Energy-Saving Card Switch turns on room electricity only when a valid Mifare guest card is inserted, so visiting cards and ATM cards will not work. Power cuts off when guests take the card and leave, which stops lights, fans and heaters running in empty rooms. It is rated at 40A, measures 3 x 3 inch and comes in white or black.

The Hotel Room Safe Box is a 42 x 36 x 19 cm digital safe that fits inside a standard wardrobe. Guests set their own password, while management keeps a master password and 2 master keys. The Hotel Smart Doorplate & Doorbell shows the room number, your logo and Do Not Disturb or clean-up status outside, with a matching indoor panel for guests.

Hotel Door Lock Price in Nepal: What Drives the Cost

Prices in this category start at Rs. 220 because single items such as key cards are sold individually, and go up to Rs. 25,000 for the encoder and software that runs the whole system. Among the door locks themselves, the price difference comes mainly from finish and brand: the Golden, Silver and Black models are mechanically similar, while the Be-Tech lock costs more for its brand name.

For budgeting a full property, add up the locks for each room, one encoder set, enough key cards, and any card switches, safes or doorplates you want. The encoder is a one-time cost, so the price per room falls as the number of rooms grows.

Frequently asked questions

What is the hotel door lock price in Nepal?+

At Mega Solar Energy, hotel lock products range from Rs. 220 to Rs. 25,000. RFID door locks are offered in golden, silver, black and Be-Tech branded versions, and the full system also needs one card encoder per property plus key cards. Prices on each product page are current; contact us for a quotation covering all your rooms.

Do I need a card encoder for every hotel lock?+

No. One Hotel Lock Card Encoder & Software set is needed per property. It connects at reception and is used to issue and cancel Mifare guest cards for every room. The same software can also program elevator access cards, and an authorization card is included with the set.

Will an RFID hotel lock fit my existing doors?+

Our locks use an Electric 5050 mortise. The Black and Golden models need doors at least 38 mm thick, while the Silver and Be-Tech models fit doors from 34 mm. Solid wooden doors are easiest to fit. Our installers can check your doors before you order.

What happens if the lock batteries run out?+

Each lock runs on 4x AAA batteries and includes 2 mechanical keys, so hotel staff can open the door with a key if the batteries go flat. Replacing batteries is quick and does not require removing the lock from the door.

How does a hotel energy saving card switch work?+

The card switch turns on room power only when a valid Mifare guest card is inserted. Visiting cards and ATM cards will not activate it. When guests remove the card and leave, power to the room switches off, so lights and heaters are not left running in empty rooms.

Can hotel key cards be reused?+

Yes. Our Mifare RFID key cards are rewritable, so reception can re-encode the same card for the next guest using the card encoder. Cards are priced individually, so most properties keep a stock of spares for lost cards and rooms with several guests.

Do you install hotel locks outside Kathmandu?+

Yes. Mega Solar Energy is based in Gokarneshwor, Jorpati, Kathmandu and delivers and installs hotel lock systems across Nepal, including hotels, resorts and homestays outside the valley. Contact us with your number of rooms and location for a quotation.
